PCAS information

Degree program curricula are proposed, reviewed, and approved in the Program and Curriculum Approval System (PCAS). This system requires authentication to enter, edit, or approve changes. All U of M faculty and staff can view PCAS entries. The programs approved in PCAS are compiled into the program catalog.

Why it is important to keep PCAS up to date

  • PCAS is the source of truth for curriculum: if a requirement isn’t in PCAS, it cannot be enforced in GPAS.

  • The more detailed your PCAS curriculum is, the more effective GPAS will be for you and your students.

  • Every two years, all graduate and professional degrees, minors, and post-baccalaureate certificates are required to submit an updated PCAS proposal for the Graduate Education Catalog.

  • Updating PCAS regularly will make future PCAS and GPAS maintenance more streamlined and effective.
