GPAS exceptions are adjustments to a student's fixed degree requirements, including moving a course (course directives), modifying/changing credit requirements, and waiving a program requirement. Curriculum requirements are built into the degree audit from the approved curriculum in Coursedog.
Please make sure all the fields are complete before submitting the manual exception form, including the RG, R, and Requirement information.

Your graduate program may have multiple initiators and up to two approvers.
Initiators of GPAS exceptions submit exception requests.
Approvers of GPAS exceptions review the requests and choose what to approve or deny.

GPAS exceptions review process examples
To update your major and minor degree program's GPAS exception initiator & approver roles, follow the steps below. Please note, GPAS exception requests already initiated will be routed using your graduate program’s existing approval roles.
Communicate any initiator and approver expectations with all roles involved in your degree’s GPAS exception process (including students).
If students are expected to initiate GPAS exceptions for your degree, you are encouraged to share the Student GPAS exceptions training course with your students.
If you are program staff, confirm with your graduate college that any updates you make are adhering to college-wide initiator & approver standards.
Submit the initiator & approver change form. Please fill out all sections, even if a portion of your degree’s setup is remaining the same.
You will need to submit separate forms if you are making a change to a major and minor degree program.
