Accepted by Senior Associate Director, Cattle Professional Services, Dairy Division

Dr. Linda Tikofsky, BS, DVM

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH) has been an important supporter of the Ruminant group research efforts through the years. BIAH’s financial investments in ruminant research contributed to the generation of innovations that has been deployed on the field. In addition, this financial support contributed to the academic training of many graduate and undergraduate research assistants. With the financial support of BIAH, our group has also been able to solidify our research collaboration with other academic institution by developing multi-institutions research projects. Moreover, our group have also always been able to have BIAH financial support when organizing outreach and extension events, such as the Minnesota Dairy Health Conference, to connect with stakeholders. These events have be a great opportunity for our team to connect with Minnesota producers and practitioners to share our research findings.

BIAH recently committed to sponsor two University of Minnesota’s veterinary student during their summer internship. This support will be recurrent support allowing us to develop summer training opportunities to train veterinary students without a farm background on rural and bovine medicine. In addition to their participation in applied research projects, this opportunity will also fund students to be paired with veterinary practices where they will be able to experience the routine of rural veterinarians while gaining experience in production medicine.
