Adding M.S. degree for Ph.D. students

Students enrolled in the PhD program can add the MSCE degree to their program, which is completed on the way to completing the PhD. Below are the steps to adding the MSCE degree to your student account, and how to complete the MSCE degree so it appears on your transcript.

Keep in mind if you plan to complete a Master's degree in a different department as well, you can only share 8 credits between Master's degrees.

You will want to determine if it makes sense to add the MSCE degree in that scenario.

Note: The MSCE degree can be cleared before the PhD degree, if desired.

To add the MS, you will need to determine if you are a GPAS student or a GDP student.

Students with degrees starting Fall 2020 and after are GPAS students.

Students who began degrees prior to Fall 2020 are GDP students.

GPAS Students: They will need to fill out this form.

GDP Students: They will need to fill out this form.

Once the degree is added to your student account, you will then need to fill out the degree plan.

GPAS students: GPAS planner in GPAS

GDP students: Graduate degree plan form found on onestop in forms section

Once the degree plan has been cleared, then you can apply to have your degree cleared.

Here are the steps to clear MS degrees and here are the last steps to finish the degree clearance and how to apply to graduate.
