This is especially important after someone suffers from disabling medical conditions or events. The focus of our treatments is to achieve patient-related goals, guided by the latest knowledge and medical evidence. Each treatment plan is tailored to the specific need of each individual through multi-disciplinary team joint effort.
The Rehabilitation Medicine service in University Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) started as a Medical Rehabilitation Unit in 1991. Over the span of more than 10 years, it has developed to be a clinical department with various specialized medical rehabilitation services. Our team members consist of Rehabilitation Physicians and doctors, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Wheelchair Service Professionals, prosthetists & Orthotists, Technicians as well as dedicated rehabilitation nursing staff. Together, we deliver comprehensive rehabilitation care, both through our extensive outpatient and inpatient services.
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is also the teaching center for various medical and health-related affiliates of Rehabilitation Medicine and serves as the heart of research and development in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine.
