Over 20 participating exhibitors!!!
On April 21st from 5:00–7:00 PM in the Tauber Colloquium at the Ross School of Business, we held an exciting career exploration and networking event focused on sustainability in the food industry.
This wasn't your typical career fair—it was a gateway to exciting opportunities in sustainable food related work! Whether individuals were looking for part-time, full-time, or internship roles, this was a chance to discover career paths one may not know about and connect with organizations shaping the future of food sustainability.
We knew this event fell outside the traditional university recruiting cycle, but that’s what made it unique. Employers shared current openings and provided a first look at future opportunities in their organizations. There were opportunities to explore training opportunities and professional organizations that can help individuals break into this growing field.
Think of this as more than a career fair—it was a career exploration and networking event where individuals could meet potential employers, learn about career pathways, and build valuable connections. Plus, as part of the 2025 Conference on Sustainable Food Procurement by Institutions, this event also incorporated a pre-conference networking reception for all conference attendees, providing exposure to a broad audience of professionals passionate about sustainability.

New Roots Institute is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering the next generation with the knowledge and training needed to end factory farming and build a just, sustainable food system for all. Factory farming has devastating consequences for people, animals, and the planet—but together, we can create a better future.
Through interactive lessons in high schools and colleges, we spark critical thinking and dynamic discussions on how industrial animal agriculture intersects with pressing global issues—such as climate change, environmental sustainability, animal welfare, human rights, and public health.
For students eager to take their learning further, our leadership development programs provide fellowships that explore both the impacts and solutions to factory farming. Fellows gain hands-on training in effective communication, advocacy, and leadership. With our continued support, alumni go on to inspire and empower others, driving meaningful change in their communities and advancing our shared mission of ending factory farming.
