Undergraduate Program Mentors

I'm a data scientist driven by a deep curiosity about the world around us. In particular how we, as individuals and populations, respond to infectious diseases. I have spent the last 5 years as a data manager for a large, international household cohort study focused on respiratory illness through a research group at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. 

I serve as Senior Director of Advocacy, Access, and Impact at the American Epilepsy Society, where I lead initiatives focused on health policy, patient engagement, and health equity. I am also pursuing my DrPH at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A first-generation college student from rural Michigan, I discovered public health at Michigan through my passion for health equity and have built a career advancing systems-level change through education, advocacy, and policy. I had (and still have!) exceptional mentors who helped me discover strengths I didn’t yet see in myself; I hope to provide that same encouragement and support while helping students navigate their own unique paths in public health. 

I currently run a small policy/legal/analytics consulting firm that focuses on federal health care programs (Medicare, Medicaid, and ACA plans). 

Agata is a social science analyst and FDA portfolio lead in the Department of Health and Human Services, specifically in the Office of the Assistance Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), where she works on nutrition and FDA policy issues and research. Prior to joining ASPE at the end of 2024, Agata spent two years working as a health insurance specialist at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) where she focused on implementing the drug price negotiation and inflation rebate programs established by the Inflation Reduction Act. Prior to moving to the executive branch, Agata spent 8.5 years working in the legislative branch at the Congressional Research Service (CRS), focusing on providing guidance related to FDA and nutrition policy issues to members of Congress and their staff.

I’m an incoming Associate at LEK, a strategy consulting firm. My previous professional experiences include corporate strategy at DaVita Kidney Care, consulting / advisory at Optum / UnitedHealth Group, and strategy and operations at a behavioral health start-up. Some things I can help potential mentees out with include: resumes, networking strategy, internship/job search, interviewing (case and behavioral), grad school questions, and general career direction advice. 

HMP grad from 2024, completed an Administrative Fellowship with the Michigan Medicine Frankel Cardiovascular Center from 2024-2026. Recently transitioned to a new role as Patient Experience Advisor with the Regional Network covering Lansing/Grand Rapids. Knowledge in project-based work areas (quality, patient experience, strategy, program management, etc) and happy to help advise someone navigating their early career interests in healthcare administration.

As a regulatory medical writer, I help teams turn ideas and data into well-constructed narratives explaining the need for, efficacy, and safety of new drugs. My niche expertise is incorporating the patient voice (via patient-reported outcomes and other patient experience data) into the clinical trial study design to ensure these studies answer questions that matter to the patient population experiencing the disease or symptom.

Hi, my name is Ananya and I am a recent graduate from U-M’s School of Public Health. I currently work as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, specifically working within the intersection of public health and emergency medicine. I aspire to become an emergency medicine physician and am interested in advancing health equity through research and policy, particularly in emergency settings that experience an influx of individuals from all different backgrounds and circumstances. In my free time, I love to read, write (I was a journalist in college!), crochet, and run!

Dr. Anna Gottschlich is an assistant professor at Wayne State University and Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan with a strong interest in improving outcomes across the cancer continuum, particularly for gynecologic cancers. Her current work focuses on how interactions between social and biological factors relate to inequities in cancer incidence and outcome. She received an MPH and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan, where she studied the acceptability and feasibility of self-collected HPV-based cervical cancer screening in diverse underserved populations in Latin America and Southeast Asia. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia where she led investigations on long-term cervical outcomes after HPV-testing compared to cytology for cervix screening among women in Greater Vancouver. During this time, she continued her global work where she looked at follow-up rates after abnormal screening from a self-collection screening intervention in rural Uganda. She now holds an NCI-funded K01 to investigate socio-genomic factors related to survival among diverse women with endometrial cancer and an NCI-funded R03 to investigate barriers and facilitators to attending recommended follow-up after an abnormal cervical cancer screen, along with multiple internal awards.

I’ve worked for almost 6 years at a Community Mental Health Center (now a CCBHC) as a Clinical Documentation Improvement Analyst, Quality Improvement Specialist and as a Training and Professional Development Manager. I then took a role with UK College of Public Health and now work with external partnerships, marketing and communications, large scale events and MOUs/ agreement project management.

4 years of clinical research experience in the therapeutic areas of cardiology, oncology, chronic kidney disease, and Alzheimer's disease. MPH in Population & Health Sciences with two concentrations in Applied Epidemiology and Health Behavior Methods/Skills. Future goals in biostatistics and attending medical school to become a cardiologist. Leadership experience in leading local and national committees for community service, professional leadership, and independent research collaboration. Interest in building a nonprofit organization focusing on health equity. Other interests include running, saxophone, anime, and learning new languages.

I am a first year dental student at the New York University College of Dentistry where I often use the public health frameworks I learned while at Michigan. I graduated from UMSPH in 2025, subsequently working as a dental assistant during my gap year. In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping and spending time with friends and family.

I currently serve as the Senior Public Policy Advisor of the Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance. My background in health policy includes working as a legislative staffer on Capitol Hill, as Policy Advisor to Governor Whitmer, and as the Director of State Policy and Advocacy at Commonwealth Care Alliance. Outside of my policy career, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Skating Club and am a national figure skating official at U.S. Figure Skating. 

Bettina Senga is a content producer with a passion for mission-driven creative content. She brings a swiss-army-knife approach to storytelling, using a wide variety of tools and mediums to support her clients around the world. She has produced creative content for clients across a wide range of industries including energy, insurance, global payments, film, public health, early childhood education, and health research. She is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I earned my MPH in Environmental Health Sciences (Industrial Hygiene) in 2008. I am a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with more than 20 years of experience in EHS. My career has included roles at NSF International, University of Michigan, and Medtronic, where I've worked in laboratory and manufacturing settings. My areas of expertise include industrial hygiene, laboratory and research safety, exposure assessment, manufacturing safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance. 

I am a Technical Business Analyst at Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) committed to harnessing data and using technology to enhance healthcare systems for more transparent, efficient, and patient-centered outcomes. My current focus is on extracting FHIR data and creating visualizations to improve healthcare interoperability. My elevator pitch would be: Passionate about Data-Driven Improvements for Equitable, Interoperable & Patient-Centered Care. 

My career may be a little different in its non-linear path, with a background as both MD and biostatistician. Consequently, I moved between jobs as a reasearch biostatistician with a focus on population health and clinical studies, but also worked in drug development.

Cameron Glenn brings over 16 years of healthcare leadership experience to his role as Director of Operations at Mountains Women's Center, a private practice founded by his wife to empower women with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed health decisions.

Throughout his career, Cameron has demonstrated expertise in scaling complex healthcare operations. Prior to joining his wife in their private practice, he served as the Director of Practice Operations for Wellstar Health System Medical Group's Behavioral Health service line, he oversaw an enterprise encompassing over 120 clinicians and staff across 30+ sites, managing both inpatient and outpatient services while integrating with nine additional service lines. Previously, he led operations for Grady Camp Creek Comprehensive Care Center, a groundbreaking 30,000 sq. ft. multispecialty facility that served as the first comprehensive care center of its kind for Atlanta's Grady Health System.

Before relocating to Atlanta, Cameron served as Associate Division Director of Women & Children's Health and Psychiatry at Trinity Health IHA, one of Michigan's largest multi-specialty medical groups. His career progression at Trinity Health included roles as Six Sigma Black Belt on the Performance Excellence team, Strategic Projects Consultant to the CFO at Trinity’s System Office, and Operations Director at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland.

Cameron holds a BS from Alabama State University (where he was named Student of the Year for his program), an MBA from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and an MHSA from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he served as Student Body President and Commencement Speaker.

A Detroit native, Cameron resides in Atlanta with his wife Amber, an OBGYN and entrepreneur. Together, they are committed to improving healthcare access and outcomes for marginalized communities, driven by their shared faith in Christ and dedication to service.

Carissa J. Schmidt, PhD, is a Research Area Specialist Lead in Evaluation and Quality Improvement at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research. Throughout her career, she has worked in faculty and senior staff roles in academia, in industry, and as a self-employed consultant. Her work has spanned topics including youth violence prevention, environmental health equity, renewable energy, and translational science, with a focus on using program evaluation and human-centered design to help organizations better understand and respond to people’s needs. As a first-generation college student, Carissa is especially interested in helping students navigate graduate school, explore different career paths, and build careers that align with their values. 

Prior to 1982, I held the following positions in the health care industry: MT ASCP (Clinical Microbiology), Instructor (Clinical Microbiology), Research Associate (Molecular Biology), IC Epidemiologist (Hospital Infection Control Program), and Infection Control Practitioner/ Consultant (Hospitals, LTC, and Behavioral Health). In 1982, I transitioned to the role of independent contractor (d/b/a Public Health Associates) providing comprehensive infection prevention and control services to health care facilities in Missouri specializing in developmental disabilities and/or behavioral health. After receiving my RN, I worked for several years as a staff nurse, charge nurse, PRN shift supervisor and expanded my services to include nursing administration and performance improvement. I retired in 2023 but continue to mentor UMICH SPH graduate students and ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientists.

I am a graduate of UM School of Public Health and a current medical student at MSUCOM. I have also completed a MBA in Healthcare Management and have extensive clinical/public health research experience during my gap years.

Cindi Thronson is a staff member at the University of Michigan Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention and is the project manager for the Michigan School Safety Initiative, a part of the National Center for School Safety. She has experience in health education programming, program evaluation, hospital-based clinical research, and community-based injury prevention research.

I am a physician executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning clinical practice, healthcare administration, and both hospital & managed care leadership. My career has evolved from practicing pediatrics to leading medical strategy and operations for large health plans, with expertise in population health, value-based care, quality improvement, and healthcare policy. I enjoy mentoring students and early-career professionals who are interested in medicine, healthcare leadership, public health, or pursuing non-traditional careers beyond clinical practice. I'm happy to share insights on career planning, leadership development, and navigating transitions into executive roles.

Dylan Kilby is an epidemiologist and emergency management professional based out of Colorado whose career exists at the intersection of environmental science, exposure science, and crisis informatics. He has acted as a subject matter expert for natural hazards and healthcare preparedness planning throughout the American West, including supporting the State of California's COVID-19 Response from March 2020 through July 2023. Most of his current work focuses on hazard mitigation planning for water, wastewater, and gas utilities - where agencies' risks to natural and manmade hazards (e.g., wildfire, flood, HAZMAT release) are assessed and projects developed to reduce those risks.

Dylan is also a prominent member of the Colorado and California alpinism and endurance athlete communities, serving on the Management Committee of the Sierra Club's Sierra Peaks Section and researching scrambling routes in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. So far, he has only broken six bones.

Ejike is a Business Analyst in the Michigan Medicine Office of Development, where he leverages SQL, Epic, DART, Tableau, Power BI, and Business Objects to query and analyze donor and patient data from relational databases. He designs high-impact data reports and visualizations for diverse stakeholders, translating complex financial and operational data into actionable insights. His expertise encompasses financial analysis, trend forecasting, and data-driven decision support, enabling executive leadership to optimize donor engagement and advance philanthropic initiatives across the hospital system.

I lead the development and implementation of software applications that support Medical Affairs at Novo Nordisk, primarily across our GLP-1 portfolio, including Ozempic and Wegovy. My products enable medical teams to understand and analyze the dissemination of non-promotional scientific information about our therapies, including how this information is exchanged with healthcare providers. My work sits at the intersection of technology, data, and healthcare, translating medical needs into effective business intelligence products. Outside of my industry work, I am interested in women’s health and remain involved in research with my former lab at the University of Michigan. 

Dr. Kantor’s research broadly centers on the role of drugs and supplements in cancer risk and survival. In terms of cancer risk, Dr Kantor has sought to understand both the chemopreventive potential of drugs and supplements, as well as the potential unexpected adverse effects of their use. Dr Kantor’s interest in drugs extends beyond cancer risk, and into cancer care, with a particular interest in how heterogeneity in chemotherapy delivery may impact patient outcomes, as studied in the Optimal Breast Cancer Chemotherapy Dosing (OBCD) Study, a large, multi-site study focused on chemotherapy dosing and breast cancer outcomes. Dr Kantor seeks to address her research interests through use of data from a variety of sources, including epidemiologic cohorts, nationally representative surveys, and integrated healthcare delivery systems. Before moving to Memorial Sloan Kettering, she completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health, a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Washington, and an MPH at the University of Michigan. 

I am a Quality and Outreach Coordinator at the Obstetrics Initiative (OBI), a Care Quality Collaborative here in Michigan Medicine. I work with MI birthing hospitals across the state to support the implementation of quality improvement projects including C-Section rates and Induction duration. My entire career has been in Maternal Health, starting out as a labor and delivery/postpartum/NICU nurse in Chicago, getting my MPH/MSN at UM, and then working at the Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative before joining OBI. I love getting to combine my clinical expertise and public health knowledge to support providers and nurses providing maternity care in MI!

I entered HMP in 2020 fresh out of undergrad with a Bachelor’s in Public Health and no experience working in the healthcare industry. Between my first and second years of grad school, I received an internship with CMS and have continued my career there ever since.

I started in CMS’ Office of Program Operations and Local Engagement, where I worked on ACA Marketplace operations. I have since transitioned into a more policy-focused role within CMS’ Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, where I now work on policy implementation and federal rulemaking.

I’m a bit of a policy nerd and would love to serve as a mentor to anyone else in HMP who is interested in pursuing a more health policy-focused career path. I’d be happy to share my experiences, answer questions, or just be a sounding board as you navigate your own career interests

Gretta works as a Clinical Trials Research Associate at University of Iowa Health Care. She has experience in project coordination, study implementation, and research operations across multi-site clinical trials. She leads clinic onboarding and patient recruitment with local family medicine clinics, and mentors students to manage study communication and workflow. Gretta is passionate about community-based research and appreciates the lab’s use of mixed methods in patient-engaged implementation studies.

I am currently a PhD student at the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health studying Health Promotion Sciences. During my PhD, I am also working on an assistantship with the Associate Dean of Research in the University of Oklahoma School of Nursing, where my work primarily focuses on Indigenous maternal health. My areas of expertise are women's health, LGBTQIA+ health, and global health! After I obtain my PhD, my goal is to be a professor. My career path has not been linear, as I attended Baylor University for my bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Brunel University London for my master's degree in Medical Anthropology, and worked as a librarian in a public library system for four years before returning to the University of Michigan for my MPH in 2024. 

I have mentored over 250 students primarily in community health, population planning, business and general topics from over 10 Universities. Professional experiences include Co-Coordinator Swine Flu, Director, Health Promotion & Wellness with over 150 community and 200 business programs; Identified as Model health program and lectured with Asst. Director, Health & Human Services, Consultant Dept of Army, El Paso, TX and Maryland Hospital organization. Presentor: How to Create a Business with Google Products and mentored students to create businesses. Specialized in creating opportunities to excell in their area of expertise, etc. 

Background in healthcare epidemiology with work experience as an infection control epidemiologist, with a focus on high consequence infectious diseases, with Johns Hopkins Hospital. Transitioned into healthcare emergency preparedness in 2019 at Mass General Brigham, holding progressive leadership positions over the last 7 years.

Jessica is a program evaluation specialist and licensed therapist who graduated in 2025 with a MSW and MPH through the dual degree program. Prior to attending graduate school, Jessica worked for various non-profits in international development and workforce development/social enterprise settings. She has lived and worked in Zambia, South Africa, and San Francisco while now lives in Ann Arbor to pursue licensure as a social worker and work for the Program Evaluation Group at the U-M School of Social Work. Jessica is passionate about strengths-based social justice and community change, collective healing, and social entrepreneurship. 

I'm a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at the Indiana University School of Public Health–Bloomington. After graduating with an MPH in Human Nutrition/Dietetics, I worked as a dietitian with a focus on long-term care and community nutrition education. I went back to school for a PhD in Health Behavior and a minor in Epidemiology. My current role is a blend of teaching and service with some research components. My areas of expertise include public health, health behavior, and nutrition education.

Healthcare IT Project Mgmt | Fitness Professional | Nonprofit Board Member 

As Senior Network Manager for the Global Health Futures Research Network at the Bursky School of Public Health I develop and manage strategies and programs that encourage innovative interdisciplinary public health research that responds to pressing global health challenges. I am a public health professional with over 12 years of public health research and program management expertise. My interest is in translating research to solve global health challenges by translating outcomes into policy. The programs I have managed have spanned neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis, and mental health and have been implemented in the US and countries across Asia, the Caribbean, and Africa.

Lifelong academic. Lots of teaching and research including courses on health economics, cost-effeciveness, the healthcare system, and leadership and values. Advocate for DEIB< pariculary wtih respect to the LGBTQIA+ population. Some consulting experience. Very interested in translating research into real action and change.

Kaitlin Schwarz, MPH, is an Epidemiologist with Oakland County Health and Human Services, with a primary focus on substance use and overdose. In this role, she is responsible for epidemiological surveillance of fatal and non-fatal overdoses to assess trends in morbidity and mortality across the county. Kaitlin also supports key public health initiatives, including the Overdose Fatality Review and the Opioid Settlement process, aiming to reduce overdose-related harms through data-driven strategies. Kaitlin holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology, along with certificates in Social Epidemiology and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, from the University of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and a certificate in Global Health from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Prior to her current role, Kaitlin served as an Epidemiologist at the Washtenaw County Health Department.

After more than 30 years practicing health law, including almost 24 with University of Michigan, the last 12 as the lead attorney for the health system, reporting to the University's General Counsel I retired this past year to have less stress and more time with family. In my Deputy GC role I lead a large legal team and advised health system leadership and governance on a broad range of strategic and regulatory matters across all 3 UM missions (education, research and clinical care). I began my public health career as a program evaluation specialist with the San Diego County Health Department involved in anti-Tobacco interventions.

I currently serve as the Assistant Director in the Center for Student Well-Being at the University of South Florida, where I oversee our substance use prevention initiatives. Prior to this role, I worked closely with our student peer health educator team, providing guidance and mentorship, while managing day-to-day programming. I am passionate about harm reduction and mental health, and I especially enjoy collaborating to develop large-scale initiatives and campaigns that create meaningful, positive change in community health. When not working, I enjoy playing with my 1 1/2-year-old daughter, taking my dog for walks, listening to music, and reading.

I am an infectious disease epidemiologist and modeler currently working as a Public Health Officer at Singapore’s Communicable Diseases Agency. Previously, I did a postdoc at Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. Before that, I was a Prevention Effectiveness Fellow at the U.S. CDC in the Poxvirus and Rabies Branch.

I currently manage all of the corporate sustainability work for the Family Care (Bounty, Charmin) business unit of Procter & Gamble. This includes energy efficiency, water efficiency, GHG reductions, Zero Waste and Responsible Forestry initiatives.

I am currently focused on global health and population aging research that informs health programs and policy. After years working in the medical and not-for-profit sectors I have returned to UM as project senior manager for an aging health project in Kenya, funded by the National Institute on Aging at NIH. The project is part of an international effort of over 40 countries studying aging health with a particular focus on cognitive health (dementia, Alzheimer's, and other related diseases). My professional interests include: population health, clinical quality and value-based healthcare, sexual health, global and international health and network building, aging health, patient and community-centered care and education.

Kristine Burke, MPH, MSW, currently works as a program manager at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Office of Community Engagement. Prior to working in a program management capacity, she worked as a case management social worker. Now, she advances MCW's mission of being a community-engaged institution by offering various professional development offerings and contributing to scholarship efforts.

I am a Manager in the Division of Laboratory Genetics and Genomics at Mayo Clinic, where I lead operational and strategic initiatives that support patient care, laboratory excellence, and employee development. With a background in public health and healthcare operations, I have experience in process improvement, project management, mentoring, and leadership within complex healthcare environments. I enjoy helping others explore career pathways, develop leadership skills, and achieve their professional goals, and I value building meaningful mentoring relationships that support growth and lifelong learning.

I am an Associate Professor of Population Medicine whose research examines the medical, behavioral, and economic impacts of genomic testing in healthy populations. As an undergraduate, I concentrated in biochemical sciences and studied how a mutation in the tk gene affected reactivation of herpes simplex virus type 1. Outside the laboratory, I ran a grill in my dorm and organized a figure skating exhibition, experiences that led to six years as a program manager at a direct-mail collectibles company. I subsequently returned to academia to pursue an MPH and PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education, with a focus on public health genomics. Over time, my research evolved from studying psychosocial responses to genetic risk information for Alzheimer’s disease to examining the clinical and economic implications of genomic screening, particularly newborn genomic screening.

I am a data analyst at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. I provide faculty with support in data management, statistical analysis, and data visualization. I work in R, SAS, and Stata and am passionate about conveying results in a meaningful manner to clinical faculty and other individuals who do not have a quantitative background.

I serve as Chief of Staff at ELSO, supporting the organization's global mission to advance extracorporeal life support through innovation, advocacy, and education. My background includes healthcare operations, clinical practice management, and nonprofit leadership, informed by my experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer and graduate of the University of Michigan's Master of Health Services Administration program. I'm passionate about mission-driven work, organizational strategy, and developing collaborative solutions that improve healthcare outcomes.

I am currently working in substance use as a harm reduction analyst for MDHHS. I work with harm reduction programs across Michigan to help implement and expand HR services and infectious disease testing and linkage to care. In addition, I work in diversion and deflection work at MDHHs helping to develop a state wide standard and curriculum for people using substances who are impacted by the criminal justice system. 

Madeline DeMarco finds joy by creating connections with people. She believes that when we get to know and trust one another, we can be our best selves. Facilitating individuals as they share, learn, and grow together fuels Madeline's purpose. One way Madeline lives this out is through her work as a Health Promotion Specialist working within Wolverine Wellness at the University of Michigan and focusing on alcohol and other drug prevention and harm reduction. She is also a Certified Prevention Specialist and a Mental Health First Aid instructor. Before working at the University of Michigan, Madeline worked as the Community Outreach and Prevention Coordinator for Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority where her focus was on bringing a trauma-informed care approach to facilitating federal grants, collective impact initiatives, and the county-wide substance use prevention coalition. Madeline also has significant teaching experience, serving as an adjunct professor at Adrian College. When she’s not working, Madeline enjoys running every street in Ann Arbor, making pasta sauce, playing Wingspan, performing with the Ann Arbor Community Concert Band, and drywall mudding.

I graduated from the MPH program in General Epidemiology at U-M in May 2026. I have my BA in Biology from Elmhurst University, IL (2023). I am currently the MI-AORTA clinical research assistant at Michigan Medicine. This position is unique as it combines my passion for epidemiology, cardiovascular medicine, and clinical research. I specialize in aortic disease research, and I work with several registries following thousands of patients with an aortopathy. Part of my time is spent in the operating room and lab where I collect and process aortic tissue samples for the Cardiovascular Health Improvement Project Biobank (CHIP). Additional research interests include women's health, chronic disease, and genetics.

After graduating from the HBHE MPH program in 2022, I moved to Boston and worked at Boston Medical Center Health System for four years. My roles there revolved around program management and stakeholder relations. I recently accepted a new job at DotHouse Health, one of the community health centers I have been working with at BMCHS the last four years, which I will start at the end of August. I am excited to get back into the community health setting and be more involved in day-to-day clinic operations. 

I have 16 years of experience with Veterans Health Administration with the majority of my career spent at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System in California. I started in the VA as an Administrative Fellow in Kansas City before working in Radiology, Process Improvement and Performance Management. I am currently a facility-level strategic planner.

I’m a mixed methods public health researcher that focuses on reproductive health, health equity, and person-centered care. I’m currently a postdoc fellow in the Dept. of Family Medicine at U of M.

Molly is an Assistant Director of Well-Being Curriculum at Colorado School of Mines. Her expertise is in developing health behavior/health education curriculum for college students. She also has expertise in sexual health education and is currently pursuing a sexuality education certificate with University of Michigan, School of Social Work. She has been working in higher education for 8 years and loves to provide guidance to public health students. Her mentorship style is focused on providing transparency of working in the public health field. 

I am a Regional Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor at Neogen. I bring 5+ years of experience across biotechnology, aerospace, and corrugated manufacturing, focused on improving safety, compliance, and operational performance.

My expertise includes regulatory compliance, EHS program development, and continuous improvement. I am passionate about EHS and committed to mentoring students and early-career professionals, helping them build confidence, navigate challenges, and grow as leaders.

I earned my MPH in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Michigan (2025) and my B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health Management from Grand Valley State University (2021). Additionally, I serve as a Board Member for the Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society and as Secretary-Elect for the AIHA Career & Employment Services Committee, supporting initiatives that advance the industrial hygiene profession and career development.

I joined the Utah Department of Health in 2013 as an epidemiologist focusing on public health assessment of environmental exposures. Like most epi's, during the COVID pandemic I was seconded to the surveillance team for the response. In that period I became involved with the nascent wastewater surveillance program, which I began managing in 2021.

Nia is an alumna of the Community and Global Public Health program and the Population and Health Sciences MPH program. After graduating in 2022, she began working as a program technician at the Michigan Department of Health Human Services Environmental Health Bureau. She was promoted to program manager in 2024 and continues to serve in this role. She also achieved her Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification in 2025. Her interests and experience include community engagement and outreach, health education and promotion, public health program development and evaluation, applied research, health communication, and translating evidence into practice.

I currently do Workforce Development for research staff and early career faculty at University of Michigan. I previously was a Research Associate for 9 years. I'm now interested in Well-Being and am serving my 3rd term on the Voices of the Staff Strive for Well-Being Team. I also did my internship and early career work in public health genomics. I love to mentor students and look forward to a new year with one of you!

I graduated from the U of M Health Behavior and Health Education (now Health Behavior and Health Equity) Masters program in 2020 and went on to pursue my doctorate in Epidemiology in the UCSD/SDSU Joint Doctoral Program. My research primarily focuses on mental health and positive psychological resources, with a focus on older adults and healthy aging. I graduated from my PhD program in June and begin a post doc at UCSD with the Center for Empathy and Technology in the Fall. Looking forward to mentoring U of M students again this year!

I have been working in healthcare consulting for the past two years and currently serve as an Associate Consultant at HealthScape Advisors, where I work with health plans to improve healthcare delivery and drive better outcomes. In my role, I have supported a variety of projects, including platform migration initiatives and healthcare strategy engagements. Outside of work, I am passionate about global health and volunteer with a nonprofit organization that provides global health education, and I also volunteer at a local animal shelter!

Paige is a current Standards Specialist at NSF in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She began her public health journey through an internship with Public Health AmeriCorps, gaining knowledge in water sampling, food inspections, and septic systems. She then interned at NSF as a Water Systems Intern for the summer, moving over to the Health and Safety Sciences team for the school year. Upon graduation she moved full time to the Standards team where she has gained experience in stakeholder management and certification processes. At her time at SPH, she was President of the Public Health Student Assembly, and in her free time she likes to read, bake, craft!

Rebecca is a Maternal and Child Health Epidemiologist for the Maine Center of Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC). She as held this position for 2 years and has experience in surveillance, needs assessments, and program evaluation. In her role, she works with the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System dataset (PRAMS), Maine's Title V program, Maine's Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program (MIECHV), and more. Previous to her role, she completed the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) Applied Epidemiology Fellowship at the Maine CDC in Maternal and Child Health. As a SPH student, Rebecca participated as a mentee in the SPH Mentorship program and enjoys participating in the program as a mentor as well, having mentored 2 students in the program.

Currently, I serve as the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for the University of Maryland Medical System where I am responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership, direction and operational effectiveness across the health system.

After graduating with my BA in Public Health from UofM in 2022, I was a CDC Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) fellow for two years. In this position, I worked at the Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center (MI-YVPC) to evaluate community-based firearm violence prevention programs and was involved in research on the impacts of racism and the built environment on firearm violence. Afterwards, I attended Columbia University from 2024-2026, where I received my MPH in Epidemiology with a certificate in Social Determinants of Health. During my MPH, I conducted research on community-based firearm violence interventions and measures for evaluating city-wide firearm violence outcomes. I recently accepted a position as a Research Coordinator at Yale, where I evaluate non-profits that received grants from the Connecticut Department of Public Health for violence prevention programming. My interests and expertise are in social epidemiology and mixed-methods research. I'm hoping to pursue a PhD so I can further explore the interplay between social factors and the built environment on disease outcomes for marginalized populations.

Hi! I am a current Business Consultant in Health Care Service Corporation’s Information Technology division in Chicago! I just finished my 2nd year as a full time employee after graduating from UofM SPH’s undergraduate program and interning on the same team at HCSC the summer before my senior year. In my role, I support creation of high-level leadership presentations, maintenance of divisional metrics, development of long-term division strategy, and creation of reporting materials using microsoft platforms (Excel. PowerBi, and Power Automate). Outside of work, I love to be outside - playing lots of beach volleyball and running on the Chicago lakefront!

Hi, my name is Sania, and I’m a current first year pediatric resident in Boston. My background is in public health with a specific focus with health education and health behavior. I have a small jewelry business and I love Kpop! I am open to discussing anything premed or public health.

I am a research project manager in the School of Public Health, Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity, at the University of Michigan. My research focuses on Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias, as well as genetic testing (in and outside the context of neurodegenerative diseases). In this role, I help HBHE faculty and other researchers implement study protocols by aiding in administrative tasks, actively participating in research data collection, and writing peer-reviewed publications based on the collected data.

 I am a first-year resident in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. I graduated from U of M with a BS in Public Health Sciences in 2021. After working for a year, I moved to Philadelphia to pursue my MD at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. I chose to train in family & community medicine as a way to bring together my interests in public health and social medicine. I am passionate about urban underserved primary care, reproductive health, and community-based medicine.

Previously, I gained industry experience as a Management Intern at CVS Health and through the Office of the Chief Health Officer at the University of Michigan. These experiences have shaped my passion for improving healthcare delivery and driving meaningful, data-informed solutions across the healthcare ecosystem.

I am a Health Informatics and Data Governance Specialist with experience in healthcare analytics, responsible AI, digital health implementation, and clinical workflow design. My work has included analyzing clinical and claims data, supporting AI-enabled healthcare products, and helping develop an AI governance playbook for a network of 50 community health centers, with practical tools for organizational readiness, vendor evaluation, risk management, and responsible adoption. I also have experience addressing healthcare privacy, security, and compliance considerations, including HIPAA, COPPA-aligned product design, data governance, consent, and responsible handling of sensitive health information (PHI). 

I am a Data Reporting and Analytics Consultant at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research based in the Bay Area. I have been in this role for about two years, where I am responsible for data management and statistical analyses for various healthcare utilization research studies using KP’s large electronic health record database. I completed my undergrad from UMSPH in 2022 and received my MHS in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2024.

For nearly four decades, I've worked at the intersection of national health policy on access to care and community-based health care delivery for low-income households, including nonprofit executive leadership, data analytics, risk management, and corporate compliance. I've worked in four federally qualified health centers, as well as for the US Congress and the Urban Institute. I also led the effort to establish a local immigration legal aid nonprofit.

I work as a Toxicologist at NSF International, specializing in conducting chemical safety and toxicological risk assessments for food, water, consumer products and dietary supplements. I previously worked as an Environmental Health Scientist, and helped draft systematic reviews and technical reports for the EPA, NIEHS, VA for assessing environmental pollutants. I am open to talking about toxicology, experience in consulting, networking, and navigating life as an international student!

I’m currently in my gap year working as a research coordinator at Northwestern Medicine! I started working in May right after graduation so am familiar with applying to postgrad jobs as well. I’m in the process of applying to med school too. I’m interested in healthcare disparities, global health, and love to go on walks and try new ice cream spots.

I am a research technician at Michigan Medicine, where I help manage the world's first FDA-approved pacemaker reconditioning center and conduct research focused on cardiovascular clinical outcomes. I also have experience with non-profit organizations (check out Sunny- an awesome student org!). Outside of work, I volunteer at the Washtenaw County Jail, work at a fitness studio, and am preparing to apply to medical school next cycle with hopes of becoming a public health physician. 

My current work place is at the Department of Community Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, Thailand. I earned my D.D.S. from Chiang Mai University and Dr.P.H. in Dental Public Health and Oral Epidemiology from the School of Public Health, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1997. I am also a Thai Board-certified specialist in Dental Public Health. My research focuses on evidence-based dentistry, geriatric oral health, oral epidemiology, preventive dentistry, and community-based oral health programmes. My interests are multidisciplinary research and public health initiatives in order to improve access to oral healthcare for older adults and underserved populations. I am working as a key leadership role in advancing dental education, curriculum development, and quality assurance at Mahidol University. 

Yuxiao graduated from the second cohort of SPH's undergraduate program with a BA in Community & Global Public Health. While at Michigan, she engaged in multiple research projects, including a summer internship focused on cancer outcomes in Thailand and Indonesia. Post SPH, she spent 3 years as a Research Coordinator for an early childhood obesity intervention based out of NYU, before completing her MSc in International Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. At LSE, she completed her dissertation in tandem with her internship under Pfizer's Global Value and Evidence division. She is currently a Research & Program Manager at the New York Academy of Medicine. Her main interests include global health, health systems financing, policy, and economics.
