Special Comps Processes

Spring Musical: As with all productions, you may process your comps through the online system. Seats may be more limited due to high sales.

Senior Showcase: Do not attempt to process tickets through the online system. You will receive a Google Form in February to request tickets to this event.

Company Members

As our two most in-demand performances of the season, and since the casts are not finalized until the end of December, the Spring Musical and Senior Showcase are the only shows where we do reserve seats for cast members and handle the process a little differently:


    • Cast members will be sent a show-specific Google Form in January/February for these events, so come back from winter break prepared with your dates/times/quantities needed.

    • As with all shows, you will be able to request your 2 comps plus any additional tickets you’d like to buy.

    • Keeping yourself organized is important, and it is crucial that we avoid any ticket trading. When students trade seats with one another, the ticket office cannot keep track of which tickets are whose. This results in families getting split up, tickets being picked up by the wrong people, or voided barcodes when the ticket owner makes exchanges. Instead of risking these problems, allow the ticket office to give you the best possible service by managing your order.


If you are cast in both of these productions, you will do this process twice - once for each show. Note that crew members/designers/artistic staff will be contacted separately as these performances approach for their ticket needs.

Should my family purchase seats in advance?

Do not purchase tickets until you know of your involvement in a production and receive the request form for that show. Ticket sales are final and far too often, families will purchase tickets before they know their travel plans, head count, or your role in the production. This results in families selling/trading tickets among themselves, and mistakes frequently happen. Instead, allow the ticket office to manage those logistics and ensure everything is correctly processed from the get-go.

What if I can't find the form?

Reminder: These forms will not be sent out until January for the Spring Musical, and February for the Senior Showcase.

If you do not see the request email, search your inbox for smtd-reminders@umich.edu and ensure you have marked all emails from that account as "Important" and "Not Spam" so you do not miss future emails.

If you still cannot find it, email smtd-reminders@umich.edu to have the link re-sent.
