There is Power in Positivity: There are activities that can make us feel more positive and improve our overall wellbeing. It takes practice to boost positive feelings, just like with physical activity. Throughout RESET we practiced positive activities to help build a habit of making time for yourself to do things you enjoy or make you feel positive.
We can find Stability in Strength: Regular activity decreases pain, improves muscle strength and mood, and enhances overall well-being. Any movement you enjoy doing counts as activity and there are some great examples of activities in the Workout to Go booklet! We hope this is a resource for ideas on how to easily incorporate physical activity into your daily life.
Enjoy food and choose foods that keep you healthy: Enjoying a meal with a loved one can help enhance your well-being. Focus on small, healthy shifts to improve your eating habits. Eating mindfully can be a fun way to get connected with your food and food experience.
Take time to mind and unwind: It’s important to take time for yourself to relax and restore. Mindfulness practices like deep breathing and guided imagery can connect us to the present moment and help reduce stress. Find what works best for you and make it a regular habit.
Stay connected with others: It’s important to maintain positive relationships throughout our lives and it’s never too late to make a new friend or friendly acquaintance. It might be writing a letter or giving someone a call or volunteering with your church or a community organization.
Get the healthcare you need: Check in with your healthcare provider, in-person or via telehealth appointments, to make sure that you are up to date on vaccinations and other healthcare needs. Be sure to ask questions and prepare for appointments so that you get the care you need.
Challenging times can produce negative emotions. Participating in activities to increase positive emotions or experiences can help offset some of these negative feelings and restore balance. We talked about several examples of these positive activities, like a gratitude jar or acts of kindness, or listening to music that can all help to give you a positive boost!
