Language Lunch is an effort borne out of the Physics Graduate Council to bring together departments across the university (Physics/Applied Physics, Astronomy, Statistics, Mathematics, and programs across Engineering) as well as to celebrate the cultural diversity present in these departments. During each lunch, participants sit at tables designated with a given language. This provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to meet new people, speak in a non-English language, and enjoy a conversation over provided food. Oftentimes we’ll center a lunch around a holiday that happens to be occurring around the time of the event. In those cases, we’ll provide food from the culture that celebrates that holiday.
