Math 289 Winter 2021

Course Description: Math 289 is a course designed to develop problem solving skills intended for students with a strong interest in mathematics. This course is a good preparation for the Putnam exam on February 20, 2021.

Each class will be a combination of lecture, individual presentations and group work.

Class Schedule: Wednesday, 4:00-5:00 PM

Office Hours:

• Tuesday 1:00pm-2:00pm (Priority Math 451)

• Tuesday 2:00pm-3:00pm (Priority Math 289)

• Saturday 3:00pm-4:00pm (Open)

Homework Policy: Homework will be due every Friday at midnight on Canvas. No late homework will be accepted. Only emergency situations will be considered for extensions on homework. Only 4 problems need to be submitted for each homework.

Collaboration on homework is strongly encouraged.

Grading Policy: Homework will be checked for submission. Your grade depends on active participation and attendance.
