On Tuesday, April 7, at 5:30pm in room 4000 of the South Thayer Building we discussed post-doctoral fellow Francesca Piana’s chapter entitled “Settlement Plans for Armenian Refugees in Soviet Armenia, Syria and Lebanon (1923-1928)."

On Thursday March 26, at 6pm, in room STB 1022, MWAS will hold a workshop discussing Prof. Houri Berberian’s chapter entitled  "Nest of Revolution: The Caucasus, Iran, and Armenians”.

On Wednesday March 25 at 4pm  Prof. Houri Berberian from California State University, Long Beach will deliver a lecture entitled "Roving Revolutionaries and Connected Revolutions: Armenians and the Russian, Ottoman, and Iranian Revolutions” in STB 1022.

On March 12, Thursday at 6:00 pm in Room 2022 of the South Thayer Building (STB), we will have our workshop with Prof. Joyce Apsel from NYU Liberal Studies Program. We will discuss Prof. Apsel’s article entitled “Research and Teaching about Genocide: History, Challenges and New Direction”, and also Lerna Ekmekcioglu’s article entitled “ ‘Facing Muslim Killed Christians' and Other Challenges of Teaching in the Middle East in Post 9/11”.

On Tuesday, February 10, at 5:30pm, in room 1022 of the Thayer Building MWAS's discussant will be Ali Sipahi’s (Anthro-History) who will present his draft dissertation chapter entitled “Massacres of November 1895: Rumors, Violence, and Collective Feelings.”   

On January 27, at 5:30pm in room STB(Thayer) 3000, Tuğçe Kayaal (NES) will present her paper entitled  “A Critique of the Concept of the ‘Genocide Survivor’: Armenian Orphans in Aleppo between the years of 1915-1918”.

On Tuesday, January 20, 5:00-7:00pm in Room 1022 of the South Thayer Building (STB) UCLA Chair in Modern Armenian History Sebouh Aslanian will present his paper entitled  "From “Autonomous” to “Interactive” Histories: World History’s Challenge to Armenian Studies”.

On Tuesday, December 2, at 5:30pm in Thayer 3000, at 202 S. Thayer Street Jeremy Johnson (PhD Candidate in Anthro-History) will present his working paper, entitled: “Unveiling Women and Literacy in Soviet Armenia.” 

On Tuesday, November 11, at 5:30 pm, in Thayer 3000, MWAS will workshop ASP Pre-doctoral fellow Hayarpi Papikyan’s paper entitled “Schooling Girls: A Way of National Self-Defense; Discourse and Representation of modern Armenian women from 1860 to 1900” in the Thayer Building, Room 3000.

On Tuesday, October 28, at 5:30pm MWAS held a workshop with Armenian Studies Program post-doctoral fellow Dr. Michael Pifer. The workshop was entitled  "Approaches to Writing and Revising a Dissertation: Tools and Tips" in the Thayer Building, Room 3000.  

On Tuesday, October 21, at 5:30pm MWAS held a workshop to discuss Etienne Charrière's (Comp. Lit, PhD Candidate) dissertation chapter entitled  “Armenian Ivanhoes and Greek Rob Roys (?): Writing Historical Fiction in the Periphery During the Nineteenth Century.” The workshop will took place in Room 3000 of the Thayer Building.

 On Tuesday, September 30th at 5:30pm MWAS held a workshop on Dzovinar Derderian's (PhD Candidate, Near Eastern Studies) working paper entitled "Cultivating Belongings through the Representation of ‘Others’ in Ottoman-Armenian Petitions: Cases from Van And Karin (Erzurum)" in the Thayer Building in Room 3000
