Neonatal Intensive Care Unit:
Residents work in the Brandon NICU, a level IV, 59-bed state-of-the-art unit capable of providing highly specialized care, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
The neonatal stabilization and treatment area (NEST) is located adjacent to the operating rooms in the birth center at Von Voightlander Women's Hospital, one floor above the NICU, and equipped to provide resuscitation to infants delivered in the operating room.
All residents are NRP certified, paid for by the department
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit:
The PICU at Mott is a 30-bed combined medical and surgical unit, prepared to provide highly specialized care to critically ill and complex patients
The PICU equipped to provide the highest levels of support, including ECMO and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
The 20-bed Pediatric Cardiothoracic Unit is adjacent to the PICU, where residents may electively rotate in their 2nd and 3rd years.
All residents are PALS and ACLS certified, paid for by the department.
Subspecialty Clinics:
The clinic tower in Mott is connected to the inpatient wards, providing easy access to a variety of outpatient subspecialties including Pediatric Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, and Adolescent Medicine.
Residents have the opportunity to rotate in clinics outside the department, including Pediatric Gynecology, Pediatric Surgery, and Pediatric Urology.
Interdisciplinary Care:
Mott has a dedicated interdisciplinary team for the care of pediatric patients, including physical and occupational therapy, chaplains, child life, music therapy, care coordinators, and respiratory therapists, among many other disciplines.
