The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate personal and professional growth in the field of education. Specifically, the portfolio includes examples of expertise and skill in the following areas: (1) educational leadership theory and practice, (2) curriculum/program development and evaluation, (3) educational policy and strategic planning, (4) integration of instructional technology, and (5) community engagement. Additionally, the portfolio is intended to demonstrate readiness to complete a dissertation study as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of doctor of education.
Jonathan currently serves as the Director of Commercialization Education for Fast Forward Medical Innovation at the University of Michigan (UM). In this role, he has developed and leads the UM Medical School's (UMMS) biomedical innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization training program for faculty clinicians, researchers, residents, fellows, graduate, and medical students - resulting in education and development for more than 1,000 participants and 50 biomedical technologies per year.
Prior to joining the UM, Jonathan was the Director of Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Education–Operations at the South East Area Health Education Center (AHEC), part of the National AHEC Organization. While there, Jonathan developed, implemented, and evaluated Continuing Medical Education programs for physicians and other practicing healthcare professionals. In addition, Jonathan has experience in Graduate Medical Education as a Project Manager at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC, where he assisted with the management of four Resident Physician Training programs.
Jonathan completed his undergraduate degree at Adrian College and his Master's in Education at East Carolina University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. His research is focused on the effects of commercialization education on the entrepreneurial alertness of life science faculty.
