The conference will explore and showcase career opportunities for physicists through activities such as tours of labs, research presentations, discussion panels, and opportunities for networking. Discussion panels will include topics such as applying for and succeeding in graduate school, how to get involved in undergraduate research or summer programs, and the multitude of careers available to physicists.
CUWiP Purpose and Aims: The goal of APS CUWiP is to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas. The national and local organizing committees of APS CUWiP strive to create a welcoming environment for all, including undergraduate women and gender minorities.
Food and accommodations will be provided for participants who are accepted to the conference. There is a $45 fee associated with registration for the conference (application is free). Applications to 2023 CUWiP closed on Monday, October 23, 2023. Travel to the conference has traditionally been supported by the students' own departments, although we will offer a limited number of travel stipends.
CUWiP has become incredibly popular. In order to maximize the number of CUWiP participants we can accommodate, we will allocate participants to sites based on travel logistics and site capacity. Please do not purchase travel tickets or plan to be at a specific site until you receive an email confirming you have been accepted to a specific CUWiP site.
If you have any questions, please contact the University of Michigan Local Organizing Committee at um-cuwip-planning@umich.edu.
