This a monthly meeting to discuss issues of climate, opportunity, and access in higher education. A typical meeting is like astro-coffee, where members share a talk and/or provide discussion points more focused on particular subjects related to our community...oh, and there are cookies!

How we foster a welcoming environment

We hope to have a healthy discussion climate. To foster this climate, we encourage folks to have the following in mind: 

1. This is a space for everyone to learn and grow! 

2. Think of those around you and whether their voices and perspectives may be a valuable addition to the conversation.

3. Be cognizant of how much space you're taking in a conversation and respect others' right to voice their perspectives and ideas.

4. Disagree with ideas, not people; use "I" statements to speak from your personal perspective, rather than making generalizations. 

5. Avoid playing devil’s advocate: specifically, do not argue for contrarian positions that you do not actually hold.
