Attributional style refers to how people infer and explain the cause of behaviors or events in their lives as being more internal (causes related to themself) or external (causes related to something external to themselves).
Attributional Style was operationalized using the Attributional Style Questionnaire, (Peterson et al., 1982). The full version of this survey describes a series of circumstances and asks how a person would attribute them. We isolated one subsection describing an unsuccessful job hunt for the purposes of our surveys.
