Event Logistics 09/13/24,Stamp Art Gallery, Stamp
#stamp #art #gallery
Me and my friend Joanne went to the stamp art gallery to look at the different artworks there were. When we went we noticed many cool works where technology was a part of it. The first thing we noticed was this cool contraption which takes the image of your face and puts it on the screens. I thought this was really cool. At first, I laughed because when I went up to it, I saw a face and immediately said to Joanne, “wait, that kind of looks like me” and that's when we realized it actually was me which was pretty funny. There were so many unique pieces of art that not only were creative but also very complex. There was also this area where not only the screen where they were playing a video was the art, but that entire area itself was actually the art. They placed a moss-like seating area and added cool green, yellow, orange, and blue paint blobs and shapes on the side of the walls. The entire place was very relaxing and fun to experience. While looking through the gallery at stamp, I learned that art isn't just something that you look at right in front of you, but it is also an experience. For example, how I got to experience the music and the feelings with my friend while walking through the gallery.
Event Logistics 10/09/24, Bel Air Lounge, Craft and Chat Friendship bracelet making
#friendshipbracelet #craftandchat #art
I went to the friendship bracelet making craft and chat at the Bel Air Lounge with my friend Joanne. When we got there we didn't have that many color options left because we got there a bit late. So I got left with colors I wasn't too interested in but it was okay. We didn't really know how to start for the friendship bracelet and we struggled in the beginning, but Andrew noticed and offered to help us. He told us how to make it step by step and we ended up talking for the whole time which was nice. We watched a movie too. After we finished our bracelets, I actually ended up really liking my bracelet. The colors went really well together and reminded me a bit of candy. I like the experience a lot more than I thought I would and learned that art can bring people together. Even though friendship bracelet making isn't something you would normally think of when someone tells you to think of art. The entire group of people that were left bonded over things which was really fun. It was so interesting to see all the color combinations that people chose for themselves and every bracelet was really different. I thought this craft and chat taught me how people can bond over art and that everyone has unique thinking. I also learned how even if you make mistakes or in the beginning it doesn't go your way, the end result can be really cool.
Event Logistics 11/01/24, Art-Sociology Art Gallery
#Gallery #Art-Sociology
I went to the Art-Sociology building with my friend Joanne to go to the gallery. I was pretty surprised at how big it was. I was expecting it to be a smaller gallery just like the one at Stamp. We walked around the gallery and saw many sculptures, paintings, and pictures. It was so cool seeing the different kinds of art styles and themes. There was a variety of mediums. I found it so cool how there were different cultures and backgrounds and you could really see it in their work. When Joanne and I went, there were other people viewing the gallery as well. There was an older couple that weren’t students at UMD and it was nice to see other people were here to enjoy the art as well. This shows how art is for everyone to see. And reminded me that it is open to everyone. I also learned how different cultures and backgrounds influence the persons art. As well as their experiences. I saw many art pieces portraying the different experiences they went through with different mediums. And each piece was unique to that persons experience and art style. I also liked how there were many pieces that were up to interpretation. It was cool seeing how I saw one thing, and Joanne saw another. This shows how everyones own perspectives can change the meaning to fit their own beliefs.
