Event Logistics (02/12/24, Bel Air Lounge, Valentine's Day Card-Making)
#cardmaking #valentinesday
Making Valentine's Day cards for my family and friends was a fun experience. To make my Valentine’s Day Cards, I used a cute little sticker book to decorate them.I decided to use light purple construction paper as the background for my cards. I had no idea that the little book were actual stickers so I put the stickers onto the paper, not realizing they had a peel-off backing. I used pink and purple colors for my cards because those are my favorite colors and I thought pink went along with the valentines day theme. I learned that these simple and small acts can be meaningful even if it isn't something extravagant. It reaffirmed the idea that the real significance of a gesture is its thinking and effort. The joy of expressing love in its many forms and the significance of meaningful connections were highlighted by the time it took to craft the cards. The thought put into the cards I made shows how sometimes the little things are the most memorable. All of these factors combined to make this crafting project a meaningful experience.
Event Logistics Crochet Club, 03/13/24
#crochet #yarn
I went to crochet club on Wednesday because I want to become better at it. When I went, the club gave us this stretchy yarn. I'm not sure if it counts as yarn, but it was a new material that I've never worked with and was excited to try using it. I practiced single crochet and made a long chain. Even though I have tried crocheting before, this new yarn was different, so I felt like I had to relearn how to crochet completely. The yarn stretching made it kind of difficult to crochet, but eventually I got the hang of it. Everyone else was creating something with this yarn, and I got frustrated because I wasn't able to keep up. With this experience, I learned to keep persevering even though you may seem behind, because at the end of the day, I still did something and I improved. With art comes practice no matter what kind of art. Although I was behind, I still felt a sort of accomplishment by trying something new.
Event Logistics 03/28/24, Trinkets and Smores, picnic tables outside of Bel Air Hall
#smores #artsandcrafts #community
For my third TRYathlon, I made smores. It was nice going out and taking a break from working. I had just taken my Biology exam that Thursday morning and was really stressed out that week. Being able to go out and not be stressed was really nice. I got a skewer and a big marshmallow and roasted it above that grill. It was funny how the fire was only coming from this one burnt marshmallow. After I got the marshmallow a little golden brown, I got graham crackers and some chocolate and made my smore. This sounds cheesy, but I learned that art can be found in making a smore. How different individuals can come together and create something amazing, like a smore. How different individual ingredients can come together to create something delicious that goes so well together. It was also fun to be with the arts scholars people and come together to just have fun and have light conversations.
