Must be presenting a paper at the conference (posters count, if there is an accompanying paper).
As a general rule, the Department will support participation of only one conference per student per year.
Priority will be given to conferences that are:
a. National or international in scope and audience
b. Of high professional and academic reputation
c. Presentation of thesis or dissertation work

Awards: These awards range from $1000 - $2000 and awarded once per semester on a competitive basis. The Department will normally fund about 2 awards per semester
Proposals should include a one-page description of and rationale for the activity being funded, and a budget.

Funds awarded in the fall round must be used in the same academic year (i.e. by June the following calendar year)
Funds awarded in the spring round may only be used in the following fiscal year (which begins July 1-June 30)

Details for 2025 application
All CRHSGG students who have completed at least 9 credits and have secured an experiential learning opportunity are eligible to apply for this award for up to $6000. The application deadline is Friday, March 28, 2025 Please complete the online registration form and send your resume to conresglobal@umb.edu.

Types of experiential learning opportunities that will be considered for funding: internship, study abroad, volunteer, academic symposium/conference, student initiated research project or travel related to academic projects and study.
If you are selected to receive the David Matz Fellowship funds you will need to provide verification of your experiential learning opportunity before receiving funding. Valid documentation includes:
· A letter verifying your internship, volunteer opportunity or research position
· A letter stating that you were accepted for a study abroad program
· Material documenting an academic symposium, etc.
Winners will be announced in mid-April.
David Matz Fellows will be expected to participate in a Conflict Resolution Colloquium next fall reporting on their fellowship experience.
MGS and CLA regularly offer student funding to support conference attendance and summer research. Check for email communicaiton.
