Fatou recently graduated with a master's degree in Global Governance & Human Security where she focused on human security, protection of vulnerable populations, and civic engagement. She received the Convocation Award for Academic Excellence recognizing outstanding scholarly performance in her field.

Presently she is the Communications Director and Criminal Justice Reform Advisor for Senator Cindy Friedman in the Massachusetts Senate, is involved in domestic violence and poverty reduction advocacy and is a member of UMB’s African Scholars Forum.
