“As the RD for Gorman/Wheeler, which houses a large number of international students, I use the Residential Curriculum to attend to the needs of our international students as they transition to US culture and education. For example, familiar concepts to local students, such as the role of an RD or RA, are not as commonplace in other cultures. Therefore, to help international students understand the resources and help that RA’s and RD’s provide, we hold a special floor meeting just for international students when they move in to explain these roles in detail, and developed the lesson plan for these meetings in partnership with the International Programs office on campus. This is one of the many ways that we use the Residential Curriculum to support the needs of students in Gorman/Wheeler!”
