Residential life launched the curricular model in Fall 2016 to respond to the shifting needs of residential students.
To sustain relationships over time that result in deep connection, with peers, staff, and campus resources, we moved away from a programming model. The Residential Curriculum focuses on what we want students to learn as a result of living in a residence hall and is centered on broad learning goals. These learning goals shape the work that we do in our residence halls.
As a large, public, nationally ranked Research 1 Institution and the Flagship University of the Commonwealth, it can be easy for students to feel like a number. This designed sequence of learning and the strategies implemented by the Residence Directors/Hall Coordinators, Peer Mentors, and Resident Assistants are facilitated each and every day to help students connect and succeed.
Our Residential Curriculum has differentiated educational plans and lesson plans for multi-year and first-year students.
