Welcome to Gulph Elementary School!
Our students have been diving deep into new concepts and growing as readers, writers, and mathematicians.
In math, we’ve been exploring measurement and graphing data, learning how to collect and organize information using different kinds of graphs. We’ve also continued to build our computation skills, expanding our knowledge of adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers. This is a big concept we’ll continue to practice throughout the rest of the year. Looking ahead, we’re excited to jump into geometry, where we’ll learn all about shapes and their unique attributes!
In Wonders, we’re wrapping up our unit on the world around us and the sky. The students absolutely loved learning about the solar system and discovering how music and movement can help us express ourselves. After spring break, we’re looking forward to diving into new stories and continuing to build our love for literature!
As we head into spring, we have some exciting projects on the horizon! One new activity for this year is “Adopt a Peep”. Each student will get to adopt a little chick or bunny (a pretend one, of course!) and write all about their adventures together leading up to spring break. This is a fun and creative way to build writing skills and spark imagination.
We also celebrated Poetry Month in April by writing our own acrostic poems about SPRING! It’s a great way for students to express their ideas in a creative format.
We’re so proud of how much our second graders have grown and can’t wait for all the fun, learning, and memories that the rest of the school year will bring. Happy spring! 🌷
The kindergarten, first, and second grade autistic support and multiple disabilities classrooms took a field trip to Little Sicily this past month. We worked on ordering food, waiting patiently, and practicing appropriate table manners while eating as a group. We had an amazing time—thank you Little Sicily staff!
