Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful and joyful winter break. It is wonderful to see our students returning to the classrooms today, refreshed and ready for the second half of the 2026 school year.
As we transition back into our school routines, we are looking forward to a productive and inspiring winter term. We have plenty of exciting projects and milestones ahead, and we can’t wait to get started.
Our formal assessment window begins this week. These assessments help us track student progress and tailor our instruction to meet your child's needs. Regarding Online Testing: While we prioritize limiting screen time at Caley, please note that all upcoming assessments will be conducted online. We will ensure students have plenty of "unplugged" breaks throughout the day to maintain a healthy balance.
How to Support Your Child:
Ensure they get a restful night’s sleep.
Provide a nutritious breakfast.
Encourage them to simply do their best!
Footwear in Health & PE- Friendly reminder that students must wear proper footwear on Physical Education days to ensure safe participation in class activities. Athletic shoes with closed toes and backs (such as sneakers) are required for running, jumping, and movement-based activities. Sandals, Crocs, boots, slippers, dress shoes, or other non-athletic footwear make it unsafe for students to participate fully.
If a student does not have appropriate footwear on a PE day, they may be asked to sit out or participate in a limited capacity for safety reasons. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe, active, and ready to learn in PE. Please don't hesitate to contact our Physical Education teacher, Sabrina Platt, at splatt@umasd.org if you questions.
Virtual Coffee with Principal Vaught: On Friday, January 30, 2026 I will be hosting a virtual space to chat and be available for questions or feedback. I look forward to meeting with you online!

I wanted to inform you that your child will be bringing home their school iPad and charger today, 1/23 in preparation for a possible virtual learning day next week.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding a virtual learning day. If one is necessary, that announcement will come directly from Dr. Smith, our Superintendent. Again, iPads are being sent home as a precaution only.
To ensure a smooth transition if virtual learning is needed, please have your child:
Keep their iPad fully charged using their school-issued charger.
Use the device only for school-related activities.
Store both the iPad and charger in their backpack after use to ensure they are ready for return.
See you at Bingo Night Friday,1/23/2026
