Caley Elementary School will join with thousands of schools nationwide in celebrating ‘Read Across America’ Day the week of March 2-6. Read Across America Day is a nationwide motivational reading program that inspires children to read everyday!
Read Across America Day is a wonderful way to instill a love of reading in our children. We look forward to celebrating it in March!

As we dive into this busy month to celebrate Black History Month, Lunar New Year, Presidents' Day, and more, please take note of the following calendar updates:
Thursday & Friday, Feb 12–13: Teacher In-Service Days (No school for students)
Monday, Feb 16: Presidents' Day (No school)
⚫ To honor Black History Month, our classes are participating in a Door Decorating Contest! Each class is focusing on a significant historical figure. Be sure to ask your child which famous person their class is learning about and how they are helping to decorate their door!
KINDNESS CHALLENGE💜
KINDNESS CHALLENGE💜
We are focusing on kindness all month long! Students and staff are encouraged to give Kindness Kudos to anyone in our building, regardless of grade or class. Every Friday, announcements will include a special shout-out to the students who gave and received Kudos.
We want to celebrate kindness at home, too! Please use the Family Kindness Survey to share the wonderful things your child is doing outside of school. You can submit as many entries as you like! We will honor these students and families by featuring their stories on our Kindness Mural in the hallways.

This year, we have an important goal: 100% of our families learning the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR! It only takes a few minutes to learn, and it can make all the difference in an emergency.
Sign Up: HERE and download the free “AHA Schools” app.
Raise funds to help kids with special hearts.
Complete Finn’s Mission: Complete all 7 steps, learn Hands-Only CPR, and be entered to win two Super Bowl tickets!
If 50% of our families sign up our school will earn a $500 gift certificate for physical activity and recess equipment to support the health of our school community.
Spring Conferences
These spring meetings are a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate their growth this year.
Please note that we are offering two different formats this spring to accommodate family schedules:
Conference Dates & Formats
Thursday, March 5th: In-Person Conferences (Held at the school)
Tuesday, March 10th: Remote Conferences (Held via Google Meet)
How to Sign Up
Sign-ups will officially go live on Tuesday, February 17th at 7:00 AM. https://www.myconferencetime.com/umasd
Note: Time slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you choose a remote conference for March 10th, your child’s teacher will provide the specific Google Meet link prior to the meeting.
