Research monitoring
The approval letter shall be your “license” to conduct research in HASA. You may use the letter to obtain a temporary visitor pass from HASA auxiliary police. The letter shall grant you permission in accordance with the validity period.
PJI will email PI two sets of forms; the Research Monitoring Report and End of Research Report. This email will be automatically sent on the next working day following the expiration of the PI approval period (as per the approval letter).
1) Research Monitoring Report: should you require an extension, please fill in this form so that we can grant you the appropriate extension.
2) End of Research Report: please complete this form if your data collection or research in HASA has been concluded. This will help PJI to know which research project has finished and we can proceed to close the file.
Publication & Presentation
PI must obtain approval for publication and presentation on sensitive topics or outcomes that touch on the subject of:
1) corruption
2) fraud (including cyber)
3) specific entity review
4) vulnerable groups
5) HASA’s public image
Please complete the End of Research Report form and attached the manuscript or abstract.
If the research output is deemed to be of low risk, the director shall sign off the application. In the cases where moderate to high risk is identified, PI will be invited for a dialogue and the application shall be discussed at JPPH level. JPPH will then advice the director who will make the final decision.
You don't have to seek approval from HASA to publish case reports or case series, unless it touches on either five of the sensitive issues mentioned previously.
If unsure, we strongly suggest seeking approval or speak to us.
We strongly recommend PI to mentioned and offer gratitude to HASA and UiTM in his/her publication & presentation where appropriate.
External Researcher
HASA is proud to have an open door policy and we welcome all kinds of collaboration including in the field of research. For clarity, external researcher here refer to non-HASA PI such as from other faculties within UiTM, public/private universities and other organisation both local and abroad.
There is no specific requirement for external researchers to be a PI and conduct research in HASA (ISR might be different). However, PI is expected to adhere to the application process from his/her own institution first (such as registration with NMRR,etc)
PI is expected to proactively recruit their own sub-i. A good place to start is by connecting with the relevant Head of Department. A complete and signed Sub-I & HOD Approval form indicate that the HOD has agreed for the research to take place in his/her department and also has consented his/her staff to take part in the research. However, PI can only begin research in HASA after receive approval letter signed by director.
Yes, ethics approval or exemption from UiTM is a mandatory requirement for any research that took place in UiTM (see also: ethics).
