Mr. Armando Blanco is a graduate of Simon Rivera High School in Brownsville, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Music from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2023. During his time at UTRGV, Mr.
Blanco held the position of principal percussionist for the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. Aside from these large instrumental ensembles, Mr. Blanco also performed with other music ensembles such as:
Marimba Reyna del Valle, Samba Percussion Ensemble, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and Chamber Percussion Ensemble. Mr. Blanco was a performing member of the UTRGV Percussion Ensemble at TMEA, and competed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), where his percussion ensemble placed 2nd among all national university ensembles. Mr. Blanco also served as President of the UTRGV
Percussion Studio where he worked collaboratively with his officers. Additionally, Mr. Blanco has a passion and in-depth knowledge for sound design and electronics, having had designed custom sound libraries and indoor percussion ensemble sound design for schools in the Rio Grande Valley.
Mr. Blanco is excited to start his career at John B. Alexander with the amazing staff and students. He plans to continue the high standards and success that has been instilled into the culture of the John B. Alexander High School Band.
