ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING : The students will understand that the different approaches in identifying research problem can develop the interest in the formulation and the conduct of research.
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How can a person develop an interest in formulating and conducting research?
This course develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills through quantitative research. It covers seven common competencies that a high school student sought to possess, namely: 1) characteristics, methods, and inquiry vis-Ă -vis research; 2) importance of quantitative research across fields; 3) kinds of quantitative research; 4) kinds of variables and their uses, designs a research useful in daily life and writes a research title, and background of research and states research questions; 5) scope and delimitation of study, cites benefits and beneficiaries of the study, and presents written statement of the problem; 6) literature from reputable journals and cites related literature using standard style (APA, MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style), and ethical standards in writing related literature and to illustrates and explain conceptual framework; and 7) appropriate theory in the study, defines terms used in the study and list research hypothesis (if appropriate), and written document on the Introduction part of the research paper.
