Grade 11 Manufacturing TMJ4C (Level 3)
This course enables students to further develop knowledge and skills related to machining, welding, print reading, computer numerical control (CNC), robotics, and design. Students will develop proficiency in using mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and computer control systems in a project-based learning environment and may have opportunities to obtain industry-standard training and certification. Students will expand their awareness of environmental and societal issues and career opportunities in the manufacturing industry
Prerequisite: TMJ3C or TMJ3C2
Unit 1 - Safety
Unit 2 - Machining/ Welding/ CNC
Unit 3 - Blueprint Reading
Unit 4 - Shop Lesson Material
Unit Breakdown:
Unit 1: In unit 1, students will learn the safety rules for all of the machines and tools and what PPE is required for each. They will also learn general shop safety and complete several Machine Safety quizzes as well as a Shop Safety Test.
Unit 2: Unit 2 will be an ongoing unit that covers all of the practical projects that students will complete during this course. During this unit students will learn learn various setups and processes on the machinery in the shop.
Unit 3: In unit 3, students will be learning to interpret Engineering Drawings. In Grade 12 (level 3) students will review Isometric and Orthographic Views, Machining Symbols and Sectional Views and will be introduced to Primary and Auxiliary Views and Threaded Fasteners.
Unit 4: In this unit, student will learn various techniques and information that are critical to the Manufacturing and Tech industry. These include: Height gauge measurement with indicators, Fasteners and Gauge Blocks and Build ups. Students will also review Micrometer and other measurement equipment reading and RPM Calculations.
Projects:
In Grade 12 (Level 3) Manufacturing students will continue to develop their skills on operating Measuring Equipment, Height Gauge, Various Hand Tools, Band Saws, Metal Lathe, Drill Press, CNC Plasma Cutter, CNC Machining Center, GMAW and TGAW welding.
