Since high school, I have always sought innovative ways to share what I believed to be groundbreaking and relevant news. Whether that was sports, politics or current events, I was always passionate about sharing what I have learned. Due to this passion, I joined my high school’s yearbook class, becoming an editor. In this role, I learned the creativity in the skills I now use daily: interviewing, graphic design, photography, page layouts and how to compose the most essential parts of a story for the writing aspects. These experiences formed the foundation for my decision to pursue journalism in college.
Coming to the University of Georgia, I have continued to build on these skills in both coursework and extracurriculars. My most notable journalism activities include an internship with “Players for Good” and the executive position of Digital Media Director for my sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi. In my internship, I compile the most notable parts of athletes' speeches into a short reel/ video to promote them as speakers. With my role in Alpha Omicron Pi, I use my photography and graphic design skills to create social media content that represents our sorority’s values and activities. These experiences have not only sharpened my technical skills but also helped me refine my ability to tell concise, engaging stories across different media platforms.
