I created my own news platform called Denton Daily News, designing a simple and clean aesthetic using navy, white, and light blue. I created a logo in Canva using a modern gothic-style font reminiscent of contemporary news outlets, but with a unique twist. For my feature story, I focused on Caroline’s Cheesestraws, a local business. I interviewed the owner, Caroline Kersey, and captured photos and videos of her. 

On the coding side, I enjoyed customizing features and learning how to make the site my own. Most changes came easily thanks to in-class guidance, though I ran into issues with the footer—realizing too late that I needed to edit the #footersection in addition to the .small class to change font colors. Another challenge was centering Instagram posts, which I solved with the help of a classmate by using the .instagram-media and blockquote classes. I added navigation for the article, pricing information, and a link to Caroline’s website. The pricing page is still limited, but I learned from the interview that Caroline plans to expand her product line, which I would add in future updates.
