I designed my flyer using multiple layers. First, I used the paths tool to shape the image at the top. Then, I used the paths tool again to create a pink and black contrast for the bottom of the flyer. I aimed to use contrast design principles to capture the readers' attention for my bake sale. I think this simple yet innovative approach will make the bake sale have a successful turnout by attracting more potential customers to come out and support local Gators. Next, I used the ellipse select tool to create circles to showcase examples of the available desserts. People are more likely to attend when they can visually see examples of what is being sold. That said, I used the alignment principle to align the images and wording on the flyer, which improved the overall aesthetic. Ultimately, I am pleased with the finished product and believe these design principles positively impacted the overall design of my flyer.
My mother is a small business owner and is steadily growing her clientele. I decided this would be a fantastic opportunity to develop a logo she could use to seal her goods. First, I constructed the cake portion of the logo using the rectangle tool. Next, I used the rectangle tool to create the candles for the cake. I used the circles, ellipses, and arcs tool to make the flame effect. I then duplicated the candles and used the alignment feature to center them on the cake. I wanted to add dimension to the cake. Therefore, I used the rectangle tool to create a contrasting color. I used various tools to generate the text around the cake. The circles, ellipses, and arcs tools allowed me to make a transparent circle around the cake. I then added the writing around the circle by selecting the text and putting it on the path. Putting it on the path allowed me to rotate the text to center it. Lastly, I used the rectangle tool to create a rhombus that I centered between the top and bottom text. This allowed me to cut the path and remove sections of the circle to create depth perception. I used the repetition design principles to develop similar layers for the cake and the candles. The cake layers are somewhat similar, but they are different sizes to create dimension. Additionally, I used horizontal and vertical alignment on the image and writing to create a more professional and attractive appearance. Inkscape is a fantastic software that can be used to create a professional logo.
I had the fantastic opportunity to earn my Associate of Arts Degree from Polk State College in high school. I graduated high school as valedictorian in 2023 and began my bachelor’s at The University of Florida the following fall. I will graduate from the University of Florida in 2025, even though I am supposed to be in the class of 2027. Ultimately, this would not have been possible without the articulation agreements that school districts have to allow dual enrollment participation. I chose to study the effectiveness of college in high school programs and found them highly effective. The proximity design principle is incorporated into my infographic by placing my caption close to my image or graphs. I wanted to ensure the reader could quickly review the photos/graphs and understand which caption went with each image. Therefore, this reduces the possibility of confusion. The Picture Superiority Effect design principle is shown by including visual elements and text to yield higher memorization and engagement with the material. Ultimately, I believe the reader can decipher the critical information more quickly and understand the program's importance.
