National Latin Honors Society

The National Latin Honor Society is a prestigious organization that recognizes students for their outstanding academic achievement in Latin studies. It's a way to honor and reward students who have consistently excelled in their Latin classes and within the Latin community.   

Key points:

    *Membership Requirements: Students must maintain a 90% or better average in Latin for three consecutive quarters (or equivalent) to be eligible for membership.   

    *Benefits: Membership can enhance college applications, open doors to scholarship opportunities, and provide a sense of accomplishment.   

    *Recognition: Members receive special recognition, such as certificates, pins, and cords, to signify their achievement.

1. Grades

NLHS members must maintain a grade average of above an A each marking period. 

2. Character

Selection for membership is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities. The Club Sponsor may deny membership to applicants with documented behavior inconsistent with the expectations, Constitution, and Bylaws of the NLHS and the JCL.

3. Service Hours/Points 

● Each MS member must have 2 hours/points by the end of the 1st semester and 2 hours/points for the 2nd semester.

● Each HS member must have 6 hours/points by the end of the 1st semester and 4 hours/points for the 2nd semester (by community study)

1. Students are first nominated on the basis of having attained an A average each marking period. The application form will be emailed to students who have met the grade requirement.

2. Students submit a resume listing the Latin activities, sports, arts, and clubs in which they have actively participated. Students must earn a score of 14 points to be necessary for consideration.  SEE points listed below.

4. Students will receive written notification of their membership selection or denial.
