*This class rotates with Honors Theatre II every other year.
**Students can repeat this course.
This course focuses on the history and evolution of the American musical genre, as well as integrating the performance skills of acting, moving/dancing, and singing. During the first semester, students will explore the history of the American musical, learn to respond critically within the genre, and perform choreography from iconic shows and styles in the canon. During the second semester, students will work collaboratively and build a songbook for themselves, as well as learn to perform in small and large group settings. The Showcase performance presented in the spring will demonstrate the culmination of all of these skills. Students may repeat this course throughout high school.
