A process journal is where you involve every detail of your personal project process. It's great to remind yourself as if its a personal diary. It's significantly important to update your journal every time you reflect or make a change in your project.
Your process journal DOESN’T have to be just words, you can also add pictures or examples of your project. For example if you were to create something, you can take a picture of the progress and print it onto your process journal.
You should also explain why you choose this idea for your project, how it relates to you, and what you hope to learn and gain from the experience. When you create a timeline for your project, it should be in your process journal as well.
In the beginning of your process journal, you have to brainstorm and narrow down your ideas, think of your product goals and your learning goals, and what will you learn from doing it. After that, all of your ideas and brainstorming has to be in your process journal.
You must also have a consistent system or organization to your process journal, or something that is easily read by others. It can be any kind of notes you would want, as long as it is comprehensible.
Here are the overall requirements of a process journal:
understandable entries (has to be organized but not necessarily neat!)
date every single entry
a reflection of any change
relevant information of your personal project
justify it (give reasons) for important context
HONESTY
Enter all your struggles and challenges! Reflect on how you overcame it or learned from it.
For example, if your project is behind the deadlines that you created, then you need to reflect on it and talk about how you can improve what you learned.
They want to see you learn and gain something from the projects, they wanna see your reflections and evaluations.
To get a higher grade, include ATL skills, what ATL skills you used, and explain how you used it. Relate it to the learner profile.
If you haven't written an entry in 1 week, its probably a bad sign! It's good to update at least once a week.
WHAT THE PROCESS JOURNAL IS:
brainstorming or planning
recording interactions with people relevant to your project
evidence for your report
good for feedback
where you keep your references
evaluation of your work
WHAT THE PROCESS JOURNAL IS NOT:
a diary unless you think this is appropriate for you
cannot be written after the process has been completed
super super detailed descriptions with heavy analysis and heavy education on what you did
