Academic honesty in the IB is guided by the attributes of the IB Learner Profile. Everyone in the IB is expected to show integrity and honesty, while showing respect for the rights of individuals worldwide.
In the Personal Project, academic honesty is properly acknowledging the ideas and work of others that contribute to your project. This includes citing all sources in your research and avoiding any academic misconduct.
Academic misconduct is any behaviour that may potentially result in an unfair advantage for a student (MYP: From Principles into Practice 95). This includes actions such as plagiarism and duplication of someone else's work.
For the Personal Project, both students and supervisors must sign the academic honesty form provided by the IB. This form records the dates of formal meetings, key points discussed during these meetings, and confirms the academic integrity of the student's work.
Only three meeting dates need to be recorded: these are typically scheduled at the beginning, midway through, and upon completion of the project.
The final declaration must be signed by both the student and the supervisor when submitting the final report.
