Timeline:
Assessment & Analysis:
To evaluate students perceptions as well as performance students will be administered a survey prior to the start of the course and then again after the course completion. The survey will collect information including demographics, grade in the class, perceptions on hands-on or active learning activities as well as virtual modules and the traditional versus flipped classroom design (McLaughlin, et.al., 2013).
Student surveys will be anonymous and in similar fashion to Foreman & Retallick (2012).
Grades will be collected at the end of the semester as in the past
Demographics on students will be retrieved from the Dean of Students office
A Likert scale will be used ranging from 1-5 with 1=strongly disagree to 5 =strongly agree. Additional data will be collected based on amount of time students spend on the site, and the amount of time spent in the laboratory outside of class time.
Descriptive analyses will be run on all the demographic characteristics. Following this non-parametric tests will be conducted to analyze all data associated with the surveys (Ball, et. al., 2001).
Grades will be compared to a mean of 2012-2014 grades, as 2012 had a smaller laboratory size and 2013-2014 began dealing with the larger class size and the difficulties with laboratory accommodations.
After the analysis is complete, this lab will serve as a demonstration model for other laboratories in the Animal and Food Science Department.The following 2 lab sections also currently use Anatomy Lab (Worrilow 114) and would benefit from the improvements in technology and facilities;
