The water desalination process starts with the intake of salt-water where a pre-treatment filtration process takes place to remove solids and other larger particles. After the larger particles and solids are removed, the water is once more filtered to remove any remaining smaller particles. After pretreatment, the saltwater is desalinated, which can be done through a variety of methods. The most popular methods of desalination are distillation, reverse osmosis, and forward osmosis. After the water is desalinated, it moves onto post-treatment where minerals and chemicals are added to ensure it meets water standards. Finally, the water gets pumped into a water storage tank until it is transported to the end user. To see a more detailed explanation of the different technologies, see our technologies page.
