SMALL RESEARCH MAKES BIG DIFFERENCES
Welcome to explore "SMALL": Spectroscopy and Microscopy at Atomic Level Laboratory. We combine femtosecond laser and scanning tunneling microscope to study the quantum phenomena which occurs at nearly the smallest length scale and the fastest time scale.
10/10/2025. Our new paper ""Computational Analysis of Interface-Driven Spin-Orbit Coupling in Molecular Adsorbates on Transition Metal Dichalcogenides" is published in the Phys. Rev. B.
08/15/2025. Our undergraduate participant, Alicia, received the Exemplary Research Award at the 2025 UCSD MRSEC RIMSE Summer School in recognition of her outstanding research potential. Congratulations, Alicia!
05/26/2025. Our new paper, "Single-Molecule Vibrational Characterization of Binding Geometry Effects on Isocyanide-Metal Interactions” is published in the Nano Letters. See the San Diego Supercomputing Center news, "Scientists Use Advanced Microscopy to Reveal How Isocyanide Sticks to Metal Surfaces."
04/30/2025. Liya won the grand prize, M. Lea Rudee Outstanding Poster Award, in the 43rd Research Expo of UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. We are proud of you, Liya! See UC San Diego's feature, "Self-Assembling Molecules Take the Spotlight at Research Expo 2025."
