What are committees? 👥

The Oakes Student Senate is led by our elected Chairs, but there is still open space where anyone can get involved, share ideas, and help make a difference in our community. Committees are designed to grow future leaders of Oakes while making sure our programs, resources, and events reflect the needs of our students.

We have several permanent committees that meet regularly:

• 🌱 Vision Committee - Reviews and updates our Constitution and bylaws to keep Senate’s governing documents clear, accurate, and student-centered.

• 🎉 Event Committee - Plans and hosts programs that bring Oakes together, from socials to collaborations with campus partners.

• 💸 Finance Committee - Supports the Chair of Finance by keeping the Senate budget transparent, accurate, and sustainable.

• 🌍 Community Impact Committee - Connects Oakes to the wider Santa Cruz community through outreach, education, resources like the Lending Library and Basic Needs Corner, and volunteer opportunities.

Whether you’re interested in planning events, learning about finance, organizing outreach, or helping shape Oakes’ future, there’s a space for you. Committees are fun, collaborative, and a great way to get involved in Oakes life while building leadership skills.
