COVID-19

We take your safety seriously.

The COVID-19 pandemic is constantly evolving. At present, we anticipate hosting an in-person conference on the UC Santa Cruz campus. We will be watching the situation closely to ensure that we can host the conference in a safe and comfortable format. No matter the state of affairs in January, the conference will strictly adhere to University of California requirements on campus events, which may change between now and the start of the conference.

We will do our best to give complete and up-to-date information about the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on CUWiP 2022. Any critical updates will be listed on this page. All UC Santa Cruz campus updates are publicly available here.

UC Santa Cruz no longer requires proof of vaccination or a negative test to visit campus. However, all campus visitors must follow campus COVID-19 mitigation requirements:

  • Do not come onto campus or enter any University facilities or physical spaces if you feel unwell or have recently tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Face coverings are recommended for everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

  • Campus visitors who do not comply with policies will not be permitted to access the facility and will be asked to leave.

Travelers should follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) travel guidance:

  • Obtain and have accessible a record of a negative COVID-19 test no more than 3 days prior to travel.

  • Monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms.

  • Consider getting tested after arrival.

  • If a COVID-19 test is positive, the travel should be canceled or postponed before the visitor arrives on campus, or as soon as the result is received.

You can find additional information on UC Santa Cruz’s Covid-19 policies and practices here.

If you begin to feel ill, show symptoms of Covid-19, or test positive during the event, please alert the Local Organizing Committee by emailing cuwip22@ucsc.edu or calling (phone coming soon!), and remain in your hotel room. Organizers will perform contact tracing if needed and will work with you to make sure you have everything you need.

APS is requiring all CUWiP attendees to be fully vaccinated, and to submit proof of vaccination prior to attending the conference. Unvaccinated students will be directed to attend a virtual version of the conference.
