To search databases efficiently and effectively:

• Define keywords relating to your topic.

  • Keywords are words that describe the main ideas of your topic.

• Refine keywords to include related words and ideas.

  • Include synonyms, broader, narrower and related words.

• Combine keywords using Boolean Operators.

  • Boolean operators are the words AND, OR, and NOT. 

  • They are used to combine keywords to create targeted searches.
