Overview
The course provides a theoretical and practical introduction to fundamental concepts used for the development of robotic systems. Specific topics include: configuration spaces, rigid body motion, robot kinematics, trajectory and motion planning, local collision avoidance, and introductory localization and mapping. In-class participation is encouraged and will be prompted if necessary. Labs are coordinated with the lectures to exercise the lecture material, and to help students acquire practical programming experience to simulate the motion of robotic manipulators and mobile robots and to control actual mobile robots in real time. For a more detailed description, please refer to the syllabus.
