EE283A: Required; EE/ME144: Bonus
Project proposal due: 2/19
Presentation video due: 3/11 at noon
Final report and code due: 3/21
Guidelines
The final project offers an opportunity to delve into various concepts covered in the course. Students should work in groups of 2. This year's theme is to design and present a wheeled robotic system, optionally equipped with a manipulator attached to the chassis, to perform a useful task in a 3D environment. Some examples systems include a smart cleaning robot, a lane-following robot, and a pick-and-deliver warehouse robot.
Basic Requirements
Implementation: Develop your system in ROS and Gazebo and demonstrate it either in simulation and/or on a physical robot.
Account for Sensors: Integrate and utilize the robot's sensors effectively.
Collision Avoidance: Ensure the robot has the capability to locally avoid collisions.
Bonus Requirements
Utilize a Sampling-Based Planner: Implement a sampling-based planner to enhance the robot's navigation capabilities.
Proposal
Each team must submit a one page project proposal by the date listed above, using the Canvas system. This written proposal should describe the proposed project in enough detail that both you and the instructor know fairly precisely what is to be done, and what principles from the course that will be emphasized. Submit the proposal as a webpage or pdf. We will have the chance to discuss the proposals in class and/or in person and/or via email, and agree on specifics details.
Submitting the Project
Submit your presentation, report, and code by the due dates via Gradescope and/or Canvas. Your report should be 3-4 pages in the US Letter IEEE format. The report should follow the following format: Introduction/Problem Overview, Robotic System, Methodology, Results, Code Status & Resources Used, Conclusion and Future Directions.
Presentation
All final projects should be presented by the teams during the last week of classes. In particular, you need to prepare a 5-7 min video presentation following the template here. The presentations will be played in class during the last week of classes.
