Thank you for inquiring about our AIG program. Our AIG program is a reading and math pull out program for 4th and 5th graders. Students can qualify for both reading and math, or they can qualify in one subject area.
Our job as AIG teachers is to screen all 3-5 grade students in the spring. This means we collect aptitude and achievement data on all students. We gather such data as the Inview testing in 3rd grade (aptitude), grades (achievement), and EOG scores (achievement). After creating a giant database of information, we look for students that meet certain criteria. If the student meets the criteria, they are invited to participate in the AIG program, or we may send the student to summer testing to gather more data.
Parents of students that qualify will receive a letter in the mail detailing admittance. Students that need additional testing will also receive a letter in the mail instructing them to contact the AIG office to schedule summer testing.
If you do not receive a letter in the mail, then your child did not meet the criteria for the program or the criteria for summer testing.
