The School District of University City’s Adult Education and Literacy Program (UCAEL) and Clayco’s Construction Career Development Initiative (CCDI) have combined forces to develop a comprehensive 4 to 6-week "Beyond These Walls" Career Prep Integrated Education Training Program. This partnership offers a well-organized sequence of activities that balance classroom learning, hands-on experience, soft skills development, and certification attainment. In this context of construction and workforce development, "IET" refers to Integrated Education and Training, a model that combines adult education, workforce preparation, and vocational training to help individuals gain skills and credentials for in-demand careers. Below is the sequence of activities that incorporate the NCCER Fast Track or Core curriculum, the CareerSafe OSHA 10 curriculum, and the Work Wise Book series, alongside real-world work experience:
As graduation approaches and you try to decide what's next let us help!! We the School District of University City’s Adult Education and Literacy Program have an opportunity we provide by partnering agencies from the St. Louis area to connect you to job training opportunities. The Transition to Work Academy (T2WA) is a program designed to connect new graduates with access to job training and certifications to prepare for employment opportunities in high demand areas such as healthcare, building & construction trades, and technology, etc.
The T2WA will hold workshops scheduled during the month of June (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 9:30-12:30). We are excited to hold our workshops in space provided by TBA in the Delmar Loop! Workshops will assist students with resume writing and other career preparation activities, visits from training providers and potential employers, and preparation for assessments that may be required for training enrollments. Additionally, the T2WA can support students with driver education if a license is required for their career path.
Participants will be enrolled with Employment Connection through the Missouri Job Center. Employment Connection provides employment support services, Job Readiness Training, wraparound services, and access to funding for job training programs, and even up to $350 in payments for goal achievement during the T2WA!

Meet the needs of non-college bound high school graduates to access short-term training programs
Prepare individuals for mid-level careers in high-demand industries
Connect individuals with employers seeking workers to train and develop skills

Each summer the University City AEL Program will host a free"Transition to Workforce Academy" targeting high school graduates and HiSET recipients. Participates meeting the requirements will be eligible for internships, work experience placement and job training funding.
