The UCI Credential + MAT Program allows you to earn both your teaching credential and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 14 months. We designed the program to provide candidates with experiences in 2 grade level placements (600+ hours) while taking courses at UCI, to maximize the connection between theory and practice. We also designed our courses to align with our MAT Core Committments.

Program overview 19-20.pdfThe program follows the UCI academic calendar most of the time, but not all. We will adjust the schedule to better align with the school district schedules. For example, the MAT program begins fall quarter on September 16th (instead of September 26th) because you are already in your fieldwork placement. The early start also allows for the 3 weeks of Student Teaching that takes place in December.
