The FRESH Basic Needs Hub is providing transportation support for students who face financial barriers accessing a vaccine site.
NOTE: Student health still does not have any vaccine, and we do not know if they will ever be authorized to distribute. Please do not wait for this option if you want and are able to be vaccinated.
ICYMI: The UC issued a statement yesterday. Short story is that we are moving towards the idea that all 1 million students and employees across the CSU and UC systems will be vaccinated as soon as the FDA issues final approvals: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/press-room/uc-encourages-covid-19-vaccinations-university-communities-while-reviewing-policy
As announced at the all-UCI town hall hosted by Chancellor Gillman on May 19, the process of returning to campus will begin on July 1. It was also announced that parking rates will reestablish over the summer to support the campus’s efforts to return to full operational capacity. Beginning on July 1, 2021, discounted monthly general parking (C/CI, S) permit rates for faculty, staff, and students will be implemented per the following phased schedule:
July 1 - September 30, 2021: 50% discount
October 1 - December 31, 2021: 25% discount
Beginning January 1, 2022: Rates revert to their approved, full rate
In addition to discounting monthly general parking, and in support of the infrequent commuter, UCI Transportation will offer a discount on the general day-use permit from $13 to $7 through June 30, 2022. This discount program excludes Executive (X/XI), Reserved (AR/ARI), and Preferred (P) permits, which will be charged at their full rate.
UCI Transportation is an auxiliary unit and receives no state or university funds, and utilizes parking permit sales to cover parking infrastructure debt obligations, ongoing maintenance, and departmental operations.
We are currently making updates in myCommute to accommodate the discounted rates and will provide detailed information regarding permit sales as well as sustainable transportation options via email on June 15, 2021.
