This poster is a collection of clipart chosen by the Chicano Park Committee in 1992. That year, there was a lack of professional artists in the community which resulted in the Chicano Park Committee taking on the responsibility of creating the poster. The poster depicts a Mariachi band, a Mexican flag, the I-5 overpass which passes over Chicano Park, la Virgen de Guadalupe, vendors, a group of lowriders and other culturally significant imagery. The images were chosen to encompass the many elements of Chicano culture.
This Union Tribune article showcases the diverse cultural traditions, both old and new, that create the fabric of the Chicano community.
